1. Lower your electric bill with CFLs- compact fluorescent lightbulbs: You may spend more money in the beginning but will save overtime with these bulbs lasting ten times longer. 2. Keep an efficient refrigerator: Your electric bill will be lower if your fridge is kept at 37 degrees. If your fridge is not up to par, check with your electric company. I know that Southern California Edision will give you $50 to pick up your old fridge and another $50 for many new refrigerators from the store with proof of purchase. Look for the Energy Star label on your washers too. 4. In the restroom: replace your showerhead with a water-efficient one and you will see your water bill go down with not much difference in the pressure. 5. Recycle instead of trash: Try Earth911.org or freecycle.org . 6. Water efficient outdoor plants: Less water, fertilizer, and chemicals. 7. Plants in your home: Having more green in your home can take out the indoor pollutants from cooking, cleaners, and other chemicals floathing around in the air. 8. Use your laptop more: Your desktop uses a lot more electricity than a laptop will. 9.Try Solar energy: They now have some that are for the lights in your yard and patio/ 10.Unsubcribe from junkmail: Go to dmaconsumers.org and you will see a huge difference in the amount of junk mail you receive at home 11. Reuse your paper: when printing something that is unimportant use the back for the next time you print out something unimportant. 12. Push Mower: They are a lot easier than back in the old days and you won't have to use gas, just your own energy and motivation. 13. Support your local farms 14. Reusuable bags at the grocery store, department stores, everywhere! 15. Use earth friendly if you can: You can find earth friendy products in many different items now, including toilet paper, paper towels, disposable dinnerware and cups,coffee filters, tampons and pads, clothes, cosmetics, soap, hair care, and much much more. 16. Certified Coffee: Look for Rainforest Alliance Certified (preserves the ecosystem) , A Fair Trade Certified, or Certified Organic 17. Try eating Vegetarian: once or twice a week.
